About

Hi, I'm Marielle (and I'm so delighted you're here!)

Marlou began with a simple but long-standing frustration: second-hand shopping often feels like a choice between two extremes. Endless racks of low-quality pieces you have to sift through for hours to find something worthwhile (and nobody has time for that), versus beautifully curated consignment shops with price tags that make pre-loved feel out of reach.

Marlou offers a middle ground: a carefully curated selection of second-hand pieces chosen for their quality, materials, and timeless feel.  Think wool, linen, silk, expertly tailored pieces, and the occasional (or perhaps more than the occasional) standout designer find.

My background is in nutrition and psychology, not fashion, which has shaped Marlou in its own way. I’m fascinated by fashion psychology, how clothing affects mood, self-expression, and identity. Second-hand pieces, with their textures, history, and craftsmanship, bring a depth and character that new fast-fashion items rarely offer.

Marlou is built on the idea that we already have more than enough clothing in circulation. We don't need to contribute to the deeply unsustainable and unethical fast-fashion cycle. When chosen thoughtfully, second-hand can be expressive, unique and oh-so-stylish - and what you curate can be worn and loved for a long time.
